The Oweninny 1 bogs are part of the Bord na Móna Oweninny group of production bogs in north Mayo. Oweninny 1 is located around the ESB Bellacorick power station and north of the N59, between Ballymonnelly Bridge and the village of Eskeragh. The bogs are located c. 10km east of the town of Bangor and 9km west of Crossmolina. They were surveyed on behalf of Dúchas as part of the Peatland Survey 2003. The entire production area was field-walked, but no archaeological features were recorded.
