Monitoring was carried out at a proposed quarry site at Carrowscoilte, Tooreen, Ballyhaunis, Co. Mayo, in October 2003. The proposed development is close to a number of monuments. Stratigraphy encountered comprised topsoil and sod, beneath which was a yellowish-brown sandy silt. This directly overlay a compact yellowish clay with outcrops of limestone bedrock. Nothing of archaeological significance was noted during the course of monitoring.
