Fourteen trenches were cut in a field to the south-west of the large cemetery of Carrowjames and in a field to the south of one barrow of the group. Sixteen trenches were cut ahead of a proposed house, percolation area and access drive, though no evidence of any archaeological features or contexts presented themselves. The trenches produced shallow topsoil, containing no artefacts, sitting directly on the boulder clay.
