Monitoring of the groundworks for the development of a single house was carried out on 1 May 2003. The site is near SMR 17:16 (a holy well), 17:14 (a souterrain) and 17:15 (a church and graveyard). The groundworks were carried out by a mechanical excavator fitted with a 2m ditching bucket. Soil-stripping was carried out from the road, along the path of the driveway to the site, and over the footprint of the proposed house. All the topsoil was removed to the natural underlying subsoil; topsoil varied in depth from 0.2 to 0.6m. Nothing of archaeological significance was encountered.
