Site 112, Newtownbalregan 2, was excavated in advance of the M1 Dundalk Western Bypass. It contained evidence to suggest it was a single-phase Beaker habitation site. The site comprised two lentoid hearths, five large pits and fourteen smaller pits, post- and stake-holes, but no discernible structures could be identified. One of the pits contained 170 sherds of Early Bronze Age pottery, while another adjacent pit contained a complete, but broken, polypod bowl.
