Additional centre-line testing was required as part of the proposed M1 Dundalk Western Bypass in the townland of Faughart Lower to the north of the Ballymascanlan roundabout (Chainage 25950-26400). This work was undertaken on behalf of Louth County Council. In total 2268m (including linear and offsets) were excavated. One potential site was identified at Chainage 25960, close to the northern edge of the road-take. An arc of four post-holes with prehistoric pottery was revealed.
