Monitoring took place of the topsoil-strip for a construction compound in the vicinity of several monuments as part of the Dundalk Institute of Technology development. The compound was situated immediately to the east of the area excavated by Sinéad Phelan (No. 1263 above). The area had already been reduced by c. 1m and was in use as playing pitches for the college. Up to 0.3m of topsoil was mechanically stripped, but the levels excavated by Phelan were not reached. No finds or features of archaeological interest were recovered during the exercise. Bill Frazer completed work on the site in September (No. 1264 above).
