An assessment was carried out at a site at Dawson's Demesne, Ardee, Co. Louth. The site is within the zone of archaeological potential associated with the town of Ardee (SMR 17:101). There are no monuments listed within the Record of Monuments and Places on this site; however, a building is depicted at this general location on a map of the Commons of Ardee made by Robert Richardson for the Corporation in 1677.
Three test-trenches were excavated within the site. No features of archaeological significance or finds were identified. Redeposited natural subsoil was recovered within all three trenches, which would suggest that this site had been previously interfered with.
