The proposed development, to consist of a house, access and septic tank/percolation area, is located a few miles outside Edgeworthstown, Co. Longford. Monitoring of excavation works associated with the development were carried out on 29 August 2003. The site is near an enclosure located to the north-east. The sod and topsoil consisted of a rich brown clay with small stones and some modern crockery. It ranged between 0.2 and 0.3m deep. This layer rested on a light-brown natural clay with decayed stone. No archaeological features or finds were revealed during the course of the excavation.
