Planning permission was granted to undertake the construction of four detached houses and an access road at Church Street, Rathkeale, Co. Limerick, with a condition that monitoring be carried out at the site. However, following consultation with Dúchas, it was decided instead to carry out testing.
Trenches were excavated along the footprint of the foundations of the back and front walls of the two detached houses, along the roadway and along the footprint of the foundations of the two semi-detached houses. No archaeological stratigraphy or artefacts were recorded within the trenches.
