Monitoring was carried out in association with the extension and alteration of the building at 29 South Quay, Newcastle West, Co. Limerick. The site consists of a terraced, three-bay, two-storey house with an enclosed garden to the rear.

The foundations for the extension to the rear of the building were excavated by machine. They measured c. 1m in width by c. 0.5m in depth. A yellow sandy clay was recorded at the base of all the trenches. No archaeological artefacts or deposits were encountered.
