The clients were having a dwelling-house constructed on land in Moanroe More, Newcastle West. Within c. 15m east of the property boundary is an 'enclosure', SMR 44:85. Topsoil was stripped from the footprint of the house to a depth of 0.2m, suggesting that the field had not been ploughed in recent times, if at all. A mottled mid-greyish-brown silty clay was noted below this to a depth of 0.25m. The mottled mid-orangey-brown and pale-greyish silty clay subsoil was exposed at this depth. Nothing of archaeological significance was noted.
