Metal detection was carried out as part of an assessment for works already undertaken at Bourchier's Castle, Lough Gur, Knockainey, Co. Limerick. The development consisted of the conversion of a hay barn to cattle shed and the construction of a concrete feeding yard. The spoil deposition areas from the site works were to the west and south of the feeding yard walls. These were low, overgrown mounds, up to 4m in length, deposited around the new walls. Modern debris such as nails and barbed wire were discovered. Nothing of an archaeological nature was recovered during the metal detecting.
