Monitoring was undertaken for groundworks associated with the construction of five townhouses at The Quay, Askeaton. The site was located along roadway fronting the River Deel. A 3m-high limestone ridge was located to the east and rear of the development site. A number of buildings were demolished prior to the monitoring and the area was trunked to provide a level surface. All foundations, 0.6m deep, were dug into the natural subsoil. Nothing of an archaeological nature was noted during the works.
