The proposed development site at Killarcan is located just outside Leitrim village off the Drumshanbo road. It is to consist of a house, access and septic tank/percolation area on a half-acre site. The site is near SMR 27:27, a well-preserved ringfort. A 30m buffer zone has been established around the ringfort, with all aspects of the development occurring outside the buffer zone. All excavation work associated with the proposed development was carried out by machine and monitored. There was no evidence of any archaeological activity on the site.
