The proposed development, to consist of 22 houses, access and connection to the village sewerage scheme, is located on the outskirts of the village. All excavation works were monitored, carried out by machine, in December 2003. The topsoil was 0.2–0.3m deep including the sod, and consisted of a mid- to dark-grey/brown clay with small stones and early modern crockery. The subsoil was a compact grey/brown clay with few decayed stones. There was no evidence of any archaeological activity on the site.
