Testing was carried out at a proposed development of a three-storey-over-basement building at 43–44 Main Street, Portlaoise, within the archaeological zone around SMR 13:41 (the 16th-century walled town of Maryborough). The proposed development is located 100m west of the medieval walled town in an area that was first occupied in the 17th century. No archaeological features or finds were recorded during testing.
