The development consisted of an extension to a commercial premises within the historic town of Thomastown (SMR 28:40). At the north-eastern extent of the garden a wall was uncovered. The foundation trench for the wall measured 0.3m in width and included quantities of 19th-century pottery. The wall may have been part of a structure at the rear of the butcher’s. Three surviving walls of this structure define the garden. The wall was exposed for a length of 3.2m and extended to a depth of 1m. It was not being disturbed and the trench has since been backfilled.
