Testing was carried out on the site of a proposed development at Garden Row, Kilkenny, on 16 June 2003. The site is currently occupied by the Regent Cinema, which dates from the late 1940s. Three trenches were excavated inside the building. The location of the trenches was largely determined by accessibility within the standing building. A post-medieval soil horizon was revealed overlying natural ground across the site. Two pits were identified, one in the north and one in the south of the site; ceramics from these indicate that they are of 18th–19th-century date.
