An impact assessment was undertaken of a proposed development site at Castlecomer Road, Kilkenny. Five test-trenches were excavated. The proposed development site is just outside the zone of archaeological potential for the medieval town. Although there are possible 19th-century walls within the area of proposed development, no other evidence for archaeological features within the site was identified. Situated immediately north of the proposed development is Lenehan’s bar and archway, which were built in 1851 and are now protected structures. Testing identified no evidence for preserved buried archaeology on the site.
