Limited monitoring of topsoil clearance took place in September 2003 at Site 1, Granny, Co. Kilkenny, on the N25 Waterford Bypass. This was in line with mitigation measures proposed by Dave Pollock in his report on the test excavations of March 2002. A 38m by 16m trench was excavated in the vicinity of the original Test-trench M. A single ditch identified in this trench was sectioned to determine its nature. No finds or stratigraphy of an archaeological nature were identified during the course of this work, and the ditch has been interpreted as a post-medieval land drain.
