The project involves the extension of the current N77 Kilkenny ring road from its current location on the Dublin Road to the Castlecomer Road located to the north of the city. The site is located in Baun townland and is listed in the RMP as an enclosure. There were no visible remains of an enclosure at the time of the assessment. Fifteen test-trenches were excavated, with a combined total length of 730m. No evidence of an enclosure was seen in any of the trenches. A single shallow pit, less than 1m in diameter and only 0.15m deep, was the only feature noted. There were a significant number of circular geological features noted within the test-trenches. The site is of no archaeological significance.
