Monitoring was carried out on the site of a proposed housing development at Athgarvan, Co. Kildare, on various dates in February and June 2003. The development site is located in the vicinity of an ecclesiastical site comprising a church ruin and associated graveyard. The development site, 7.6 acres in extent, is located within the grounds of an old demesne and is surrounded by mature trees. All groundworks associated with the development were monitored. The stratigraphy was uniform across the site, light-brown sandy/silty clay topsoil (0.4–0.6m thick) overlying light orange/brown clayey sand and gravel. No archaeological material was discovered.
