A non-disturbance archaeological assessment of a stretch of River Lyreen was carried out prior to the proposed residential redevelopment of the Manor Mills site in Maynooth, Co. Kildare. Assessment was concentrated within the immediate impact area, namely the stretch of river between William Bridge and a modern millrace construction approximately 200m to the north-west. A sizeable buffer zone was also incorporated into the river survey, and assessment extended 200m west and 100m east of the impact area. A number of archaeological features were identified, including a large radially lined stone drain, a 19th-century retaining wall, two arched culverts and an iron sluice gate. All features were recorded.
