Testing as part of a pre-development assessment was conducted at the above site. The proposed development relates to the construction of houses, apartments and golf lodges. It is 150m east of the motte SMR 14:17. Ten trenches were excavated across the site at a width of 1.7m and a maximum depth of 1m. The length of the trenches varied from 17.5 to 65.5m. In all cases the topsoil was removed to expose the underlying grey-yellow stony subsoil, which was intermittently disturbed by the presence of land drains and field boundaries. No artefacts or stratigraphy of an archaeological nature were identified.
