Testing was carried out adjacent to Site 50 on 19 August 2003 as part of the programme of testing for the N7 Naas Road Widening and Interchanges Scheme. Situated in the north of a field along the south of the existing dual carriageway, Site 50 consists of a possible earthwork and flint scatter site on an area of high ground. The flint scatter was located about 15m from the field’s northern boundary and 20m from the western edge of a wooded area that runs along the route of the existing road. The flint scatter was located within the area of the possible earthwork, which took the form of a subcircular rise within the field. The area of land within this circular rise appeared flat and the overall diameter of this possible earthwork was 40–50m. No other possible visible features were located within the area of the possible earthworks.
A single trench was excavated to natural across the area by machine. Nothing of archaeological significance was recorded.
