Testing was carried out at Site 39 on 11 August 2003 as part of the programme of testing for the N7 Naas Road Widening and Interchanges Scheme. Situated to the north of the existing dual carriageway and slightly to the north of Kill village, Site 39 lies just outside the north-eastern limits of the zone of archaeological potential for Kill.
The field was a possible wetland area, subsequently drained, and a number of features were noted within its boundaries. In the north-eastern portion, cultivation ridges were visible and in the central portion some curvilinear field boundaries were identified. In the south-western portion, closest to the dual carriageway, two parallel banks and a ditch were located lying along a north-west/south-east alignment.
Eighteen trenches were excavated to natural by machine across the area. Nothing of archaeological significance was recorded.
