Excavation took place prior to road construction on the M7 Heath–Mayfield Motorway Scheme. Located at Kill townland, the site was initially identified during centre-line testing by Brendán Ó Ríordáin (No. 912, Excavations 2003, 03E0127). Excavations uncovered the remains of a possible post-medieval enclosed settlement, together with structures and boundaries thought to date to the 1700s. Finds associated with the sites included slag and 17th-century and early modern ceramics.
