Excavation took place prior to road construction for the M7 Heath–Mayfield Motorway Scheme. The site, located in Kill townland, consisted of two areas. The primary site was previously the subject of both testing by the author (Excavations 2002, No. 958, 02E0301) and by Thaddeus Breen (No. 926, Excavations 2003, 03E0184) and a geophysical survey. Excavations uncovered the remains of c. 70 child inhumations located in a disused sandpit, within a stratigraphic depth of 1.8m. Finds directly associated with the burials include shroud pins, coffin nails and organic samples. The concentration of burial activity caused multiple truncations to the remains. The secondary area contained hearths and a ditch, which were not associated with the burial site.
