Testing was undertaken on 1 and 2 October at Site 29 as part of Contract 1 of the N7 Naas Road Widening and Interchanges Scheme. The site was identified as a result of a pre-development geophysical survey of the scheme carried out by Earthsound Ltd in August 2003. Site 29 was recognised as an area of potential archaeological significance, as a possible enclosure was noted in the north of the site in the EIS. A possible north-east/south-west-oriented negative feature, approximately 70m in length, was located in the north of Site 29 in the survey.
Four trenches were excavated to natural by machine. In addition, centre-line and offset trenches were excavated. Nothing of archaeological significance was recorded.
