Testing was carried out at Site 41 on 14 August 2003 as part of the programme of testing for the N7 Naas Road Widening and Interchanges Scheme. Located 1.3km east of Kill village, Site 41 was recorded in the EIS as a series of possible circular earthworks on an area of high ground overlooking the Painstown River. It was also noted, however, that it is possible that the earthworks may relate to an enclosure associated with a large orchard, part of which still remains to the east.
Six trenches were excavated to natural across the area by machine. Nothing of archaeological significance was recorded. In several trenches a natural fissure, which had been backfilled with modern debris, was recorded.
