Monitoring of ground disturbance was undertaken at the Kerry Landfill site in Muingnaminnane on behalf of Kerry County Council. The site is on the northeastern side of Cahercullenagh Mountain at a height of c. 270m OD. The upland area is covered by blanket bog. Much of the bog has been planted with forests of spruce trees. Monitoring of groundworks was undertaken in the southern portion of the site. Cells 13 and 14 and the access roads on the perimeter and between the cells were excavated by machine. The area was covered by virgin bog up to 3m in depth. In general the peat overlay a grey gravel and boulder clay. Patches of brown silty clay were recorded in parts of Cell 13. The underlying shale bedrock was exposed in places. No archaeological stratigraphy or artefacts were recorded.
