Testing was carried out in advance of the construction of a dwelling-house near a possible site of a fulacht fiadh. Four trenches were opened along the footprint of the foundations of the proposed building and two more along the driveway and percolation areas. The topsoil averaged 0.3m in depth and was composed of a dark greyish-brown peaty soil. This directly overlay a light yellow-brown boulder clay. Nothing of an archaeological nature was uncovered and no trace of the fulacht fiadh was recorded during an inspection of the surrounding area.
