Two machine trenches were excavated in the area of a proposed carpark on the north-eastern side of Dingle town, within two rectangular walled plots. Trench 1, in the eastern half of the more northwesterly plot, was excavated to ascertain if there were any burials associated with St James’s Church or any activity associated with the substantial, threephase, boundary wall to the north-east. Trench 2 was excavated immediately outside the boundary wall of St James’s Church. No archaeological features were noted in either trench.
