Visual inspection and a magnetometry survey of the seabed surrounding Dunquin Pier and Blasket Pier, by hand-held metal detection, took place prior to the proposed pier extensions at each location. About 100m2 of seabed was surveyed at each location, significantly extending the assessment beyond the proposed site perimeters. Particular attention was paid to recording seabed topography and bottom composition, and highlighting any material concentrations. No archaeologically significant material was observed.
