Monitoring of topsoil removal was carried out at Ballybunion, Co. Kerry, in advance of an extension to a caravan park. The development site was located to the west of a ringfort (SMR 4:2). Removal of topsoil at the site was carried out using a track machine with a flat bucket. The topsoil was shallow and very loose and sandy with frequent stones. The underlying subsoil was mid-brown/yellow, stony sandy clay. No archaeological stratigraphy or artefacts were recorded.
