Testing was carried out at a proposed development site in Killeenhugh, Co. Galway, on 10 May 2003. The proposed development was located within the area of archaeological restraint around a ringfort and souterrain.
Five trenches were excavated across the site. The soil profile consisted of a sod layer which overlay silty clay under which was white to cream-coloured silty sand with some rounded stones. Nothing of any archaeological significance was noted in any of the trenches.
