An assessment took place of a building erected in the immediate vicinity of Arkin’s Castle on Inis Mór. The house, which was under construction during the summer of 2003, was located in an archaeologically sensitive area. An examination of the partially exposed section faces revealed that the stratigraphy consisted of sod overlying a light-brown sandy topsoil. Occasional shell fragments were recovered from the section face, as was a decorated bone incised with spirals and diagonal lines.
