Monitoring at Derrybrien, Loughrea, began in autumn 2003. The proposed development will include the construction of 71 wind turbines, an ESB substation and several kilometres of access road. Monitoring, to date, has revealed no archaeological activity. The project was brought to an abrupt halt with a massive bog slide early in 2004. It is anticipated that the project will resume in late 2004.
