Monitoring of excavations associated with the installation of a service trench was undertaken at Brackloon Castle on 25 August 2003, in advance of a planned restoration of the 16th-century tower-house. The main service trench measured 80m north–south and an ancillary trench measured 26m east–west. A spread of post-medieval pottery was recovered from previously ploughed topsoil in the main service trench, 5m south of the castle. No features of archaeological interest were discovered.
