Monitoring of the excavation of foundations for two adjoining buildings was undertaken in October 2003. The demolition of the existing structure on the site indicated it was predominantly constructed of mass concrete. The raft foundation required removing the existing ground level for a depth of 0.4–0.5m below the existing path level. This involved the removal of the foundations for the demolished house and the adjoining concrete yard. The development did not impinge on any layers or features of archaeological significance.
