The access road was again relocated c. 92m north of the main complex of concentric enclosures and c. 13m north of the (formerly tested) proposed access road (No. 655, Excavations 2003). It traverses the most diffuse of the magnetic responses identified in the geophysical survey (Nicholls 2003, unpublished report). The access road measured c. 18m north–south and the topsoil, which was consistent with that elsewhere on-site, measured 0.32–0.44m in depth, from west to east, reflecting the slightly sloping topography of this area of the site. A single gravel-filled drain bisected the access road. Cut into orange natural subsoil, it measured 0.3m in width and was exposed for approximately 38m east–west. No features, deposits or artefacts of archaeological significance were identified.
