Monitoring was required on Phase 2 of an extensive residential development on the outskirts of Lusk village. Access to the development is from Minister’s Road, west of Lusk village centre. All of the roads within the development area were stripped first and a second machine stripped the areas between the roads. Both machines used toothless grading buckets.
Several field drains were identified, and there appears to have been a herringbone pattern of drainage channels across this area. Two small sherds of blackware were identified and several sherds of modern white-glazed and patterned crockery.
Monitoring of the south-west corner of the development, between Roads 1 and 11, did yield several possible archaeological features. These features were excavated under licence 03E1113 (No. 639, Excavations 2003).
Apart from the features identified in the vicinity of Road 11, no other archaeological finds or features were identified.
