Testing was carried out on the site of a proposed residential development to the rear of Nos 29–37 Emmet Road. Three trenches were excavated across the site on 3–4 February. These indicated that the site was subject to much recent disturbance resulting from demolition of pre-existing buildings and consolidation of the low-lying ground, which was part of the flood-plain of the river Cammock. A horizon of post-medieval clay, possibly 19th century in date, was identified overlying natural subsoil. A culvert of red-brick and mortar construction was uncovered in the west of the site. The earliest evidence uncovered on this site dates to the 19th century; this concurs with the cartographic evidence, which indicates that the site was not developed until the late 19th or early 20th century.
