A single trench was mechanically excavated on this small (5.25m by 12.5m) site. This revealed the presence of an east–west drystone foundation 1.1m in width set in a 1m-deep cut beneath the floor of a cellar, at the south end of the site. The wall footing could not be dated but was probably medieval. A wall standing to street height at the rear of the site also appeared to be composed of medieval masonry. The pile layout and the proposed location of new walls were altered to allow the development to proceed.
