Monitoring took place of site preparation work and of the installation of piles. The eastern side of a former, retained, bank building on the site rests on the fill of the medieval city ditch. Mini-piles tied by beams at the existing basement slab level were used to support the retained structure. No remains of the city ditch fill were exposed. Elsewhere, site preparation work revealed the previously unrecorded remains of basement voids extending beneath the pavement to Cornmarket. These were photographed prior to being filled for structural stability. No other structural remains were exposed during piling and preparation of the western side of the site for a cast in situ concrete ground-floor slab.
