Testing and monitoring were carried out on a site being developed by Dublin Business School. The site was located within the medieval enclosure around St Peter’s Church, which lies in the area of the historic city of Dublin. The assessment and initial monitoring were undertaken by Melanie McQuade on 11 February and 3–4 April, respectively, and further works were monitored by Teresa Bolger between 11 and 18 April 2003. A series of modern wall foundations and footings were uncovered and a structure was identified in the north of the site. The latter may be a coal cellar or sewer associated with former dwellings on the site. This structure was shuttered and was not impacted on by the development. A small spread of intact post-medieval clay (c. 1.5m long) was identified in the east of the site and was subsequently excavated by hand. Fragments of clay pipe and 18th- and 19th-century ceramics were recovered from this deposit.
