Monitoring was carried out at Ballyeally East, Rush, on behalf of Fingal County Council, at the site of the Ballyeally Landfill. Topsoil-stripping was initially undertaken by a bulldozer, but the contractor allowed extensive trial-trenching to take place in advance of bulldozing. Trenches were excavated by a 20-tonne machine with a 2m-wide grading bucket. Topsoil deposits ranged in depth from 0.15 to 0.55m across the site. Three of the four fields being developed had been reclaimed in recent years. No archaeological features or finds were uncovered.
