The proposed development at Coolyslin, to consist of a house, access and septic tank/percolation area, is located just outside of Castlefinn on the Castlederg Road. Monitoring of machine excavation works was carried out on 23 August 2003. The proposed development is in the same field as a standing stone. A 4m buffer zone around the stone was fenced and maintained throughout the construction phase. The topsoil consisted of a friable brown clay with small stones. On average it was between 0.2 and 0.25m deep. There was no evidence of any archaeological activity on the site, apart from the standing stone.
