As with the adjacent property at 100 North Main Street (No. 355, Excavations 2003), this development involved the insertion of concrete-filled augur piles augmented by ground-beams, to allow for construction of an extension to the rear of the property fronting North Main Street. Only fourteen piles were drilled for this particular development, varying in depth from c. 8.5m to 10.5m, depending on the stratigraphy encountered.
Prior to commencement of the piling, the site was noted as being covered with demolition debris in a very dark greyish-brown sandy clay silt matrix. This was the result of the demolition of standing buildings to the rear of 102 North Main Street, and also of the standing buildings demolished as part of an adjacent development at 100 North Main Street (No. 355, Excavations 2003).
